What is the CRIC tax credit?
The Tax Credit for R&D, Innovation and Pre-commercialization (CRIC) is a tax program administered by Revenu Québec that allows eligible businesses to recover up to 30% of their eligible expenses related to the acquisition of manufacturing and processing equipment, computer hardware and software.
Unlike a direct subsidy, the CRIC takes the form of a tax credit that directly reduces the tax you owe — or generates a refund if your credit exceeds the tax due. For manufacturing, technology and digitally transforming businesses in Quebec, it represents a major financing opportunity that too often goes untapped, for lack of familiarity with the complex eligibility rules.
